Announcing New SCAA Message Board For Members

We are often reminded by our members that the single greatest value SCAA can offer is to provide opportunities for engagement amongst fellow member companies and colleagues. In our continued efforts to adapt to the needs of our membership, we are pleased to announce that we have established the SCAA message board for use by all members.

The idea behind the message board is simply to create a forum where SCAA members can interact with one another in a group setting, and on a wide variety of topics. Some of you may recall that the concept of a message board was discussed during the Hurricane Ian operational briefing. It was suggested that this type of communication forum might be an excellent way for members to interact with one another on a more routine and causal basis.

Ground Rules and General Uses

Although the message board is designed for you, there are some basic reminders and ground rules that SCAA will monitor and assure adherence to. First, any conversations posted on this forum must comply with SCAA’s Anti-Trust Policy, and therefore not include any specific conversations regarding pricing, competition or strategy. Second, offering resources and capabilities to our membership is appropriate and encouraged, but please refrain from hard sales pitches or posting of marketing materials to the board. Lastly, keep it respectful. It’s fine to express an opinion about something, but let’s make sure it is delivered professionally, and that we don’t weaponize the dialogue. Any posts or discussions that fall outside of these parameters, or deemed inappropriate by the administrators will be removed.

By way of example, some good uses of the message board might be:

“I’m looking for some assistance on a project in _____, and in need of a number of trained crews experienced with hydro-blasting operations”. It’s likewise appropriate for a member company to respond saying “We may be able to help out. Shoot me your contact info and we can get off-line”.

“If anyone is in need, I have some (resource, new technology) available for deployment on the _______ project that is on-going, give me a call on my cell if you are interested in us helping you out”. But remember that the message board is not designed for hard sales pitches and posting of marketing materials!

“Anyone out there ever come across a situation where (a certain chemical) comes in contact with oil, and have experience on potential safety concerns”?

“We are hearing that Coast Guard is considering issuing a rulemaking on ________, anyone out there hearing the same”?

“I’d like to see SCAA include _______ as part of its Annual Conference Agenda. Any thoughts on this”?

Accessing the SCAA Message Board

The SCAA message board is for SCAA members only and is accessible at this web address: http://scaa.freeforums.net

In order to use the message board, we ask that members utilize either their company email address already on file in SCAA’s database, and the administrator will monitor the message board to make sure no unauthorized users gain access.

The message board is fairly easy to use, and we realize that many of you are already familiar with how similar applications work. That said, we are providing members with a few basic steps for using the message board provided at the end of this email in the "Quick Start Guide".

The first step you will need to complete is to visit the message board link and register yourself as a user. Please allow a few days for your profile submission to be reviewed by SCAA and accepted. Make sure to fill in all details for your user profile including your company name.
