SCAA Houston-Area Regional Mixer & Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

On March 16, 2022, the Spill Control Association of America held a Regional Networking Mixer for the Houston area. Hosted by SCAA President, Nelson Fetgatter, at the Golfcrest Country Club, this mixer served as an opportunity for both current and prospective members alike to gather in fellowship and discuss some of the different events SCAA has coming up in 2022 that are beneficial to our industry. The following night, several attendees of this mixer and other participants in our industry attended the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for an event hosted by Complete Environmental Products (CEP).

Houston-Area Regional Mixer – March 16, 2022

The mixer lasted from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with more than thirty-five current and prospective members in attendance to hear from Fetgatter as well as several other speakers, followed by the introduction of Logan Armstrong as the new Chairman of the Communications & Marketing Committee. Fetgatter went on to talk about the exciting additions to this year’s annual meeting on April 27-28 in Savannah, GA that will gather leaders throughout the spill control industry and provide exposure to cutting edge technology. This year, SCAA will also be hosting aerial and on-water response equipment demonstrations of new technology that benefits our organization, industry, and environment as a whole!

Following dinner, attendees took time to remember Kenneth Bradshaw (Shaw) Thompson, III, a friend to many in our industry and organization that passed in January of this year. Fetgatter delivered a brief and heartfelt message in remembrance of Shaw to the group of attendees.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – March 17, 2022

On March 17, the SCAA Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo event was hosted by CEP and Phoenix, with the evening’s entertainment being Chris Stapleton, wild bull riding, bronco busting, calf roping, mutton busting and the fast and exciting chuck wagon races. There were five, lucky SCAA Chuck Wagon Race winners throughout the evening’s events, none of them will retire on their nightly winnings but a great time was had by all in attendance! The SCAA organization looks forward to a great host of members in the HLS&R gallery next year.

SCAA holds these regional mixers several times throughout the year in different areas of the country so be on the lookout for one near you!
