Description of Major Duties:

1. Supports RRB efforts in setting research goals, the design of technical approaches and tool development, budgeting, project scheduling, technique development, synthesis, and documentation of processes and outcomes.

2. Plans, organizes, conducts, and administers complex seagoing, shoreline, and land-based studies and research for obscure and novel problems and oceanic characteristics and phenomena, to determine how they influence the understanding and technology development in oil spill response and the impact of oil and response strategies on shoreline remediation research.

3. Leads individual and/or group projects as a principal investigator, co-principal investigator, supporting research oceanographer or scientist or natural resources manager or biologist, or activity lead, which involves project acquisition (concept and proposal development) and execution of oil spill response research.

4. Manages the OSPD Research Recommendation and Tracking (RRT) Database and ensures all RRB personnel provide timely and accurate entries. Competently uses database to address ad hoc and scheduled requests for information regarding BSEE Research and Development (R&D) efforts.

5. Develops OSPD's Response Research Progress Reports on delineated schedules and drafts multi-year strategic plans for the RRB.
