Elastec recently wrapped up its 2019 Fall Oil Spill Workshop. The three-day workshop was held October 8-10 in Carmi, Illinois and New Harmony, Indiana. This year’s instructor was Cody Harris of the Whitewater Rescue Institute. Attendees had one day of classroom instruction where they learned about hydrology, water safety, and oil spill case studies. This was followed by equipment demonstrations and tours of the Elastec facility. The second day was an on-water day in New Harmony, Indiana. Attendees participated in hands-on exercises with oil skimmers, containment boom, and BoomVanes. On the last day, an oil spill response drill was held using the equipment and skills learned on the previous day.
