The SCAA Board of Directors made the decision in May to change SCAA’s members-only Spill Briefs newsletter, currently an e-newsletter sent to members once each month, to become publicly accessible on the SCAA website. This decision was made to better promote SCAA’s member news and activities to potential new members as well as promote a more active news reporting posture within the spill response community at large.
SCAA’s Communications Committee decided during their last quarterly meeting to convert the existing Spill Briefs e-newsletter into SCAA’s news blog hosted online and accessible from the SCAA website.
As of today, all changes have been implemented, and going forward, SCAA’s blog is now the medium by which all Spill Briefs member news will be reported. SCAA members will now receive a monthly email at the end of each month recapping news articles that have been released by SCAA over the course of that month in the Spill Briefs Blog.
Some of the advantages of this change will include:
- SCAA news will now be released in real-time replacing the previous all-at-once release of monthly news in the monthly e-newsletter.
- SCAA news can be accessed anytime, online, by visiting SCAA’s blog on our website.
- Member news that is reported to SCAA can be broadcasted to a larger audience extending beyond our membership.
- SCAA committees can show their activities, efforts, and progress to the general public and promote interest from prospective members.
